Module 2 - Vehicle Examinations

‘Become confident with your Vehicle System Forensics Examinations’

Description

This module is essential for Vehicle Systems Forensics (VSF) first responders responsible for collecting data from modern vehicles. It builds on the foundation established in module one and guides delegates through the process of physically examining a modern vehicle, ensuring comprehensive data acquisition. The goal is to align with best practices and maximise data recovery.

Participants will benefit from exclusive insights provided by James Wales, an in-house Vehicle Technology Technician and Master Technician & High Voltage Expert at Audi. This knowledge is crucial, as VSF investigators must understand vehicle networks and their role in VSF. James will explain vehicle networks, using the 'Frankie' rig to aid comprehension, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in how modern vehicles communicate.

With the growing number of electric vehicles, examiners must also be aware of the risks and safety measures associated with working on electric vehicles. James will emphasise the dangers and best practices for handling such vehicles from a practitioners perspective.

The module will cover practical techniques for accessing modules in modern vehicles, dealing with trim panel and component removal, and provide delegates access to infotainment video teardown guides and user interface video guides. These resources serve as ongoing support for students in their professional roles.
