Module 1 - Vehicle Systems Forensics; Planning & Strategies
‘A comprehensive introduction to Vehicle Systems Forensics'
Description
Vehicle Systems Forensics is often described as ‘Telematics’ however there is so much more to it than this one topic. In this module we scratch under the surface to introduce you to a variety of identified systems which are explained and defined to give a better understanding of their differences, their functionality and how they interface into the whole Vehicle Eco System.
This introductory module looks at the whole Vehicle Eco System and outlines the various systems that can be considered for useful investigative data. This course will allow delegates to be able to define the various systems, identify what data types are available, where they may be obtained from and what tools and techniques, they may need to obtain the data.
The formulation of a VSF strategy will be explained, together with the reason of its importance in laying down the foundations of the whole process of this activity to create a robust evidential product for any investigation. Delegates will be sign-posted to resources, enabling them to formulate their own VSF strategies for use in their future examinations.
The course is held inside The Vehicle Network App and provides lifetime access including updates. Access is also triggered to the Essential & Community Plan, saving £24.99 per year on continuing education for first 12 months.
By the end of Module 1 you will be able to:
· Define the main vehicle systems capable of storing data
· Explain how those systems differ in purpose and architecture
· Identify common data types available from modern vehicles
· Recognise where data may be stored and how it may be accessed
· Understand available tools and acquisition approaches
· Formulate a structured VSF strategy
· Appreciate evidential and integrity considerations
Triage Area included as complementary resource to help with planning.
